oooo look at me update!!

i had a bunch of photos on my camera to post, and brad told me that i should update last night so for those two reasons, i am updating my blog!! hooray. not that anyone at all reads this anymore.

anyway, first some concert updates. i went to nyc two weekends ago to see the killers with miklos. it was an amazing concert. we were so far away though, it was rediculous:

i decided that i'm going to marry the lead singer because he is gorgeous and he has a beautiful singing voice. this is one of those bands that sound better live than on the album. awesome!!

the rest of the weekend in nyc was fun too. on saturday miklos's family came for a cs picnic and i got to be an honorary member of the family. i talked to miklos's brother atilla a lot. he also went to cmu (he was a senior when i was a freshman) and so he invited us to a lot of parties back then. now he's getting a phd in physics at cornell. that afternoon miklos and i watched the emperor's new groove, which was awesome. and we went out for dinner and went bar hopping and got really really drunk. we ate giant slices of pizza and got milkshakes at tom's restaurant, which is that dinner in seinfeld. it was a good weekend.

monday of that week was my first bartending class, where i learned about pouring and mixing high ball drinks. good stuff.

then on thursday i went by myself to the decemberists concert. also amazing! they were so much fun live. sadly, the opening band sucked and then the decemberists didn't go on for an hour after. but they played for about two hours!! and i did get to go out afterwards, although not with the people with whom i had originally planned. still so much fun.

on friday we checked out one of the bars that is closer to my apartment. good drinks, good wings, although not much variety in flavors. and we watched casablanca. good movie.

saturday, it poured so the bbq became a pizza party. josh came up from dc, and we chatted about how things are going. again it was a lot of fun. sadly i have no pictures from that because i'm stupid. we played a nice game of kings that went on forever, but it was still fun.

last week was stupid. the second bartending class i learned about different shots and impressed everyone by making a bailey's chocolate covered cherry (layered grenedine, kaluha, and irish cream). we also learned about milk drinks, and i discovered that a white russian with vanilla vodka is a billion times better than one with regular vodka. so that's how i'm making them from now on. after class, i went downstairs to watch the steelers game on the big tv with brad. fun. we didn't stay for the whole thing because he thought he had homework due. he didn't and that led to a series of hilarious emails the next morning in which he got very upset that he did the homework early. made me laugh at least.

tuesday was my first yoga class. yoga makes me and my back so happy!! too bad it's only a 4 week class. but still that's better than nothing right?

this photo is chris not being able to fit in the stupid little desks during our cell bio class. how silly!

on thursday-- a night when there is cheap beer and drinks at gpscy and BAR and i always try to get people to come out with me and sometimes they do-- it was pouring, so instead of going out for drinks, i went to see serenity with brad. a very good movie. i didn't really know what to expect, except that i had heard it was good. and it was. so hooray!

friday we went on the genetics retreat to jiminy peak in ma. it was still raining. (note that at this point it had been raining for about 9 days straight and we hadn't seen the sun at all. it sucked.) but the genetics reatreat was a million times better than the mcdb retreat. it was shorter, the accomadations were much nicer, and the party was more fun. also we played science taboo and everything that invovles taboo is automatically awesome. my team tied for second and we all won a free movie ticket. so hooray again!!! then i drank a lot and went to bed really late. i don't even know what time it was. but i was tired on saturday.

on the drive home saturday afternoon, it actually stopped raining!! we saw a patch of blue sky and i was so amazed that i took pictures:

after a lot of shopping for food, shoes, halloween stuff, and everything else, we finally made it home. i bought stuff for my halloween costume, including a wig, a feather boa, some earings, and some fake eyelashes (i'm dressing as a flapper since i have the dress from the murder mystery last year). i also bought a pair of awesome shoes that fit nicely and make me really tall. and they're really comfy. hooray!! we went out to gpscy for a little bit last night and we could have gotten a million free drinks. but brad had driven so he gave away all the drink tickets. i was exhausted so i went home at midnight. i felt bad because rajini and diana still wanted to dance and find boys. although i wanted to find boys too, i was too tired to dance. oh well. i'll find boys some other time.

in other news, my lab rotation continues charming. i took a lot of photos of glow-in-the-dark yeast cells. here are some pretty picture:

my internet sucks and keeps kicking me off. grrrrrr.

today was a not exciting day. i went running (which was nice), did laundry
(which was boring but necessary), and attempted to watch the steelers game (which was annoying). aparently, cbs in new york and connecticut doesn't show the steelers. i was very sad and had to just look for updates on espn.com. poop. and then they lost in overtime. poop again. probably because rotheilsberger (that's probably spelled wrong) couldn't play. poop!!!

now i am watching everyone cook dinner. erica is making chicken soup with matza balls, but she takes the chicken out. i should make dinner soon too i suppose. and then we will all sit in front of the tv to watch desperate housewives and gray's anatomy. i'm glad people have sucked me into watching tv.

and tomorrow is another bartending class, where we will learn about beer and pint drinks. like a long island ice tea. and how to pour a black and tan. and how to change a keg. it will be exciting i think! brad said that he would come with me and then do shots at gpscy. he wanted to do shots last night be he drove. stupid. tomorrow should be fun.

wow that was a lot of rambling stream of consciousness. congradulations to anyone who actually read the whole thing. at least now you have a pretty good idea of what goes on in my terribly interesting life at yale!!

fluffies!
